Philanthropic Organization Builds N250 million Project at Al-Qalam University Katsina

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), a philanthropic initiative of the Chairman BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, has kicked off the construction of a the N250 Administrative Block and Conference Room.

At a groundbreaking ceremony held at the university campus in Katsina, the Managing Director of ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, identified education as a priority area of intervention for the organization considering the importance of education in human capital development.

He said the organization will remain committed to supporting quality education in tertiary institutions across Nigeria and Africa at large.

Dr. Uboh commended the management of the institution for its cooperation with the ASR Africa infrastructure team by providing prompt feedback and required documentation on the projects to ensure its timely take off.

He also assured them of speedy completion of the project while urging the university’s management to focus on the sustainability of the project for the benefit of staff and students of the institution.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Qalam University, Prof. Nasiru Musa Yawuri, thanked ASR Africa and the BUA Group for finding the institution worthy of the intervention.

He noted that the project is one of its priority needs as the university is set to launch its College of Allied Health Sciences in the 2023/2024 academic year, hence the need for a befitting infrastructure for the purpose.

He explained that upon completion of the project, staff and students under the Bachelor’s degree programs in Nursing Sciences, Public Health, radiography, physiotherapy, optometry and Medical Laboratory in the 2023 2024 academic year will have lecture rooms and offices for their programs.

He thanked the ASR team for its timely intervention in commencing the project.

It will be called that in 2022, ASR Africa announced the launch of its 2023 Tertiary Education Grant Scheme which covers 22 tertiary institutions in Nigeria, with Al-Qalam University as one of the beneficiaries of the grant.
